CPA Global to sponsor the Channel Islands Student Business Challenge
Gordon Samson, CEO of Tech-Enabled Services at CPA Global said: “The Challenge underpins CPA Global’s commitment to our local communities and grass roots development by giving 11 to 16 year old students a unique insight into business and project management.”
Contestants from six schools in Jersey and three schools in Guernsey will be trading from January to March and selling products such as animal themed gifts, mugs, jewellery and candles, as well as recycling items to make new products as they compete to become winners of the Channel Islands Student Business Challenge 2020. In addition to the overall Challenge winners, there will now also be the CPA Global Product Award in both islands to recognise product excellence.
The 2020 Channel Islands Student Business Challenge will support around 300 students to start-up and run their own businesses with an initial investment of £100 per team. There will be eighty teams of students, aged 11 – 16, and each team will be supported by a mentor from Barclays, CPA Global or EY who will help equip them with skills which are relevant to the workplace. Participating schools from Guernsey are Grammar; La Mare de Carteret and St Sampson’s High School and from Jersey are Beaulieu; Grainville; Haute Vallee; Jersey College for Girls; Les Quennevais and Victoria College.
Gordon Samson added: “We were really impressed with the students’ ideas and enthusiasm last year and are looking forward to getting involved as a corporate partner with our new Product Award. CPA Global is in the business of ideas, and we will help these students, as innovators, bring their products to market, as well as understand how to become more efficient, minimise risk and make better decisions.”
